The Republic of San Marino is pleased to announce the official celebrations of its National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, which will include the participation of Captains Regent Denise Bronzetti and Italo Righi accompanied by the Minister of Tourism with delegation to Expo Federico Pedini Amati. A rich programme of cultural and musical events will be proposed to the international public at Expo to present and honour the values of freedom, identity and dialogue that have always distinguished the oldest Republic in the world.
The initiatives will start on Friday 2 May with a series of concerts and performances featuring San Marino and Japanese artists in the prestigious setting of the Shining Hat auditorium. It will begin at 14.00 with the musical composition From the Heart of San Marino to Osaka Bay: a musical bridge, by the ensemble of the Istituto Musicale Sammarinese. This will be followed, at 15.00 and 15.30 respectively, by the concert of the renowned violinist Ikuko Kawai, recently appointed Pavilion Ambassador, and the performance of the San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation, an enthralling testimony to the historical-medieval tradition of the Republic. At 15.30, in the Central Stage of the Common-C, the building inside which the San Marino Pavilion is located, the Istituto Musicale Sammarinese will perform Bohemienne Harmonies: notes from Paris to San Marino, with Aldo Capicchioni and Michela Zanotti on violin, Anselmo Pelliccioni on cello, Marco Torsani on clarinet and Akiko Yatani on viola.
Saturday 3 May, San Marino's National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, will see the official delegation, led by the Captains Regent, pay an official visit to the San Marino Pavilion, where they will be welcomed by the staff of managers and volunteers; this will be an opportunity for them to see, for the first time in person, the space in which San Marino is the protagonist at Expo. The delegation will also be welcomed on an official visit to the Pavilion of the Italian Republic by Commissioner General Mario Vattani and, subsequently, to the Pavilion of Saudi Arabia, which will host the next Universal Exposition in Riyadh in 2030.
At 16.30, at the Expo Hall National Day, in the presence of Their Excellencies Denise Bronzetti and Italo Righi, and of the Minister of Tourism with delegation to Expo Federico Pedini Amati, the Official Ceremony will start, with the flag-hoisting, the national anthems and the speeches of the Japanese and San Marino authorities. The programme of cultural and musical entertainment will open at 15.00 with the evocative parade of flag-wavers, drummers and figurants of the San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation under the famous Expo Grand Ring, the wooden construction symbol of the Japanese Universal Exposition that encloses the exposition site on Yumeshima Island; it will continue with the concert The Universal Language of Music: San Marino in Japan, and with the performances of the violinist Ikuko Kawai and the San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation.
This programme of events represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen cultural and institutional relations between San Marino and Japan, enhancing the country's presence in the important international showcase of the World Expo.
Federico Pedini Amati (Minister of Tourism): “The National Day is the high point of a country's participation in the World Expo and we are particularly proud that the Captains Regent will be there to celebrate it. It is an extremely promotional event for the Republic of San Marino, its territory, culture, products and traditions. We will have the eyes of the world on us, it will be very exciting”.
