“San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of Mount Titano”
A journey into the Middle Ages in the heart of San Marino – 24, 25 and 26 July 2026
“San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of Mount Titano” was presented this morning, a new historical reenactment event organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Board. The event officially joins the 2026 summer calendar with the aim of enhancing the medieval roots of the Republic of San Marino.
The initiative seeks to rediscover and promote the historical and cultural heritage of San Marino and the surrounding areas through an innovative and immersive format. Local and international historical groups will take center stage, bringing the Middle Ages vividly to life through reenactments of historical episodes, scenes of everyday life, tournaments, and performances, creating an authentic medieval atmosphere.
A distinctive feature of the event is its strong participatory spirit, driven by collaboration and teamwork, designed to engage the public in a dynamic and immersive experience.
The event will open with an original and spectacular show: on Friday 24 July, at the Cava dei Balestrieri, an exciting evening performance produced by 301 FILMONT will take place. The show will feature stunt performers from the world of action cinema, delivering high-intensity performances with duels, scenic effects, and fire-based action sequences within a narrative full of twists and surprises.
On 25 and 26 July, “San Marino Antiqua” will come fully to life with more than 800 participants involved in reenactments, medieval games and tournaments, and scenes of everyday medieval life. Activities will take place across various areas of the Old Town, animated by San Marino’s main historical groups: Cerna dei Lunghi Archi at Piazzale Domus Plebis; the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation at the Cava and Via Eugippo; Corte di Olnano and Compagnia dell’Istrice in Piazza della Libertà, Orti Borghesi and Nido del Falco; Compagnia della Forca performing throughout the squares; Associazione Giochi Storici Sammarinesi at the Giardino dei Liburni; and 301 FILMONT at the Cava dei Balestrieri.
As part of the event, the 70th anniversary of the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation will also be celebrated, together with the prestigious Tournament of Liberty, in which archers from all over Italy will compete for the Collar of San Marino.
“San Marino Antiqua” stems from the long-standing experience of the Medieval Days event, reinterpreting its concept in a renewed and contemporary way. The project introduces a new visual identity, fresher and more modern, designed to communicate effectively through today’s media languages and to enhance the event’s digital presence. Its goal is to attract a broad and diverse audience, engaging younger generations through dynamic visual content and a more contemporary narrative, while maintaining a strong connection with historical tradition.
