The International Forum on Pilgrimage and Hiking Tourism was presented.

A press conference was held this morning at the Secretariat of State for Tourism to present the International Forum on Walking and Pilgrimage Tourism, "From Destination to Meaning: Spiritual Tourism Today." The event is promoted by the Secretariat of State for Tourism of the Republic of San Marino in collaboration with the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro.

The event will take place on Wednesday 3 June 2026, starting at 11:00, at the Teatro Titano of the Republic of San Marino. Admission is free, and will be held during the week dedicated to the celebrations of San Quirino and Corpus Christi. It will provide an important opportunity to discuss the touristic value of walks and pilgrimages, which are increasingly recognized as tools for personal growth, territorial development, and sustainable development, as well as a powerful driving force for the country's economy and promotion.

The proceedings will be opened by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati, and the Bishop of the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro, His Excellency Monsignor Domenico Beneventi. This will be followed by a keynote address by His Excellency Monsignor Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, entitled "Religious Tourism: Contemplation of Beauty."

The morning will feature round tables, interviews, and insights with distinguished guests from the institutional, cultural, publishing, and association worlds. Speakers include Davide Rondoni, philosopher, writer, and President of the National Committee for the Celebrations of the Eighth Centenary of the Death of Saint Francis of Assisi; Miriam Giovanzana of Terre di Mezzo, who will present the text "The Country of the Paths"; Monica Valeri, Project Leader of Religious Tourism at APT Emilia-Romagna; Francesco Boggi, Co-Founder of the Cammini d'Italia community; Raffaella Rossi, Director of Saint Francis Way; and Massimo Feruzzi, Advisor to the Secretariat of State for Tourism.

The event will be moderated by journalist Eva Crosetta, host of the RAI program “On the Road to Damascus.”

The upcoming Forum represents a moment of reflection and sharing on a form of tourism that seeks not only destinations, but also meanings, relationships, and identities. It is a valuable opportunity for discussion between professionals and experts, but also a moment to emphasize how San Marino can increasingly become a place capable of welcoming this type of tourism. Through the process initiated together with the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro, we aim to build a network of stable collaborations that places the historical, religious, and human heritage of our Republic and the Montefeltro region at its core, creating connections with some of the most important entities in spiritual tourism.
