San Marino Antiqua is going to start on Friday 24 July
The Old Town returns to the Middle Ages

From 24 to 26 July, the Old Town of the Republic of San Marino will be transformed into a vast open-air stage with San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of the Titano, the new event dedicated to medieval re-enactment which, over three days, will bring the charm of the mysterious Middle Ages back to life through performances, tournaments, historical encampments, music, ancient crafts and entertainment.

At 17.00, the traditional Letttura del Bando- Reading of the Proclamation will begin in Piazza Titano, organised by the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation, followed by an evocative procession of musicians and re-enactors winding its way through the streets of the Old Town.

The event will officially start at 21.30 with the Opening Show in the evocative Cava dei Balestrieri, transformed for the occasion into an impressive open-air film set to host Il Torneo di Fuoco, a show conceived and produced by Filmont 301. Choreographed battles, duels, special effects and spectacular performances will bring to life an immersive show designed to engage the audience in an unprecedented experience.

San Marino Antiqua will then continue throughout the weekend from 16.00, featuring dozens of historical re-enactment groups from San Marino and across Italy, along with over 800 participants, including medieval markets, street performers, travelling shows, historical games, archery and crossbow demonstrations, guided tours in period costume, and culinary offerings inspired by medieval tradition.

The activities at San Marino Antiqua will be organised by San Marino’s historical groups: La Cerna dei Lunghi Archi di San Marino, Federazione Balestrieri Sammarinesi, La Corte di Olnano and La Compagnia dell’Istrice, La Compagnia della Forca, Associazione Giochi Storici Sammarinesi, and 301 FILMONT. The graphics were designed by Titan Sound & Light.

This event will transform the Old Town of the world’s oldest republic into an authentic journey through time, offering residents and visitors a comprehensive experience encompassing history, culture and entertainment.
