“San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of the Titano”: the figures show great success in terms of public interest and attendance

.

The official figures for the “San Marino Antiqua” event, which took place from 24 to 26 July in the Old Town – transformed for three days into an evocative, sprawling medieval setting – were presented today, 6 August 2026, at the Ministry of  Tourism.

The figures confirm the initiative’s success: around 30,000 visitors over three days, with 14,926 cable car journeys and 3,514 hotel stays, testifying to the event’s strong appeal and its significance for the Republic of San Marino’s tourism sector.

This result was made possible thanks to the coordination of the Ministry of  Tourism and the Tourism Board, and the crucial contribution of San Marino’s historical groups: the Cerna dei Lunghi Archi di San Marino, the Federazione Balestrieri Sammarinesi, the Corte di Olnano and Compagnia dell’Istrice, the Compagnia della Forca, the Associazione Giochi Storici Sammarinesi, and Filmont 301. Over 800 participants brought the Old Town to life with re-enactments, tournaments and scenes of medieval life.

Each group was responsible for specific venues, further enhanced by the participation of guest groups from abroad. The event spanned numerous areas, from the Cava dei Balestrieri to Piazza della Libertà, and on to Piazza Titano and Piazza Garibaldi, as well as the Domus Plebis area and the Orti Borghesi, transforming the Old Town into a travelling stage.

Among the highlights were: the opening show on 24 July at the Cava dei Balestrieri, produced by Filmont 301; the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation; and the prestigious Torneo delle Libertà, featuring archers from all over Italy.

San Marino Antiqua builds on the experience gained from the Medieval Days, reinterpreting the concept in a fresh and dynamic way. The project has introduced a new, fresh and contemporary visual identity, capable of engaging with modern forms of communication and promoting the event digitally, adapting to various channels, from traditional print media to social media.
