FAQ's

Can I come to San Marino from Italy?
At the moment it is possible from all so-called yellow and white regions.

Is self-certification necessary?
From the Italian yellow and white zones it is not necessary.

Are museums, restaurants, shops and hotels open?
Museums are open, as well as hotels, restaurants and shops. The use of a mask is mandatory. Until 30 January, access to museums, theaters, cinemas, entertainment venues, wellness centers, indoor sports facilities, conference centers, accommodation facilities, restaurants and bars (indoor), as well as participation in reunions, congresses, meetings, conventions and similars is allowed to holders of enhanced health documentation (art . 6 of Decree – Law no. 6 of 21 January, 2022. Furthermore until 30 January, for access to take-away or drink services at the outdoor tables of bars and restaurants, the correct use of the FFP2 mask or surgical mask for children under 12 years of age is required.

Access to commercial activities not of shopping centers, personal services and public offices, is allowed without the presentation of any documentation. From 17 January 2022 to 30 January 2022 it is mandatory to use the FFP2 mask or, for children under 12, a surgical mask to access these services, while from 31 January 2022 the use of any type of mask is mandatory. The provisions referred to in paragraph 1. Art. 18 of Decree-Law No. 6 dated 21 January 2022 are also valid, both on weekdays and on holidays, for access to commercial activities located within shopping centers.
Access to commercial activities located inside shopping centers on holidays with the exception of food shops, newsstands, bookstores, tobacconists, supermarkets and pharmacies, is only allowed if in possession of one of the documents referred to in Article 6 from 17 January 2022 to 30 January 2022 and one of the documents referred to in Article 5 from 31 January 2022 until the conditions set out in art. 8 occur.

Can I come to San Marino from abroad?
For those who come from countries other than Italy and the Vatican City, or who have stayed outside these two countries in the previous 14 days, entry is allowed upon presentation:
A) of a a specific certificate of anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination or possession of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 carried out after 1 April, or a certificate of successful recovery from SARS-CoV-2 within the previous 6 months. This certificate can be both in paper form and in electronic format;
B) of a special certificate certifying the negativity to the coronavirus, by subjecting it to a molecular or antigenic swab no later than 48 hours before entry and in any case in accordance with the health protocols in force in the Republic of San Marino.

Any molecular swab carried out in the 48 hours prior to entry into the territory of the Italian Republic for those who do not fall within the case referred to in letter A) is considered valid.

Children under the age of ten are exempted from presenting the certificates referred to in letters A) and B)

Public transport
Until 30 January, access to buses (excluding students) and the cable car is subject to possession of enhanced health documentation (Article 6 of DD No. 6 of 21 January 2022).

What restrictions are in force?

Among others:

Use of the mask in closed places open to the public and outdoors

1. It is mandatory to wear the mask correctly in closed places open to the public, both for users and for operators, except in cases where:
a) there are different measures established with protocols validated by the ISS (Social Security Institute);
b) you are alone
2. Outdoors, it is mandatory to wear the mask correctly:
a) in case of events and manifestations, including local markets;
b) whenever it is not possible to maintain an interpersonal distance of at least 1.5 meters
3. It is mandatory to wear the FPP2 type mask:
a) on public transport, including taxis and rented means with driver. For children under the age of 12, the obligation to wear a surgical mask regularly remains in force;
b) in indoor places where it is not possible to guarantee seats for all those present and in any case whenever it is not possible to maintain an interpersonal distance of at least 1.5 meters (such as arcades and bowling alleys):
4. The following are not subject to this obligation:
a) children under the age of six;
b) subjects with forms of disability not compatible with the continuous use of the mask and subjects who interact with the aforementioned.
5. Any activity open to the public is obliged to ensure the correct use of protective devices is observed
6. It is always strongly recommended to use respiratory protection devices, even outdoors
7. Plexiglass visors are not considered respiratory protection devices.

Further provisions related to theatres, museums, libraries, places of culture and events in general
1. Access to theaters, museums, libraries, social centers and all indoor cultural venues is only allowed when in possession of one of the following valid documents:
a) From 17 January 2022 to 30 January 2022, through the presentation of one of the documents referred to in Article 6;
b) From 31 January 2022 and until the conditions referred to in Article 8 are met, through the presentation of one of the documents referred to in Article 5.
2. Access to the public is allowed to the extent of 50% of the maximum capacity, available seats must be occupied alternately. The use of a mask is required for the public.
3. No consumption is allowed inside cinemas, theatres and places of culture in general but only in the bar area and in compliance with interpersonal distancing of 1,5 meters and with the use of personal protection equipment.
4. In museums, libraries and all other places of culture, access and use must take place according to the prescriptions of the ISS Prevention Department and of the Civil Protection.
5.Concert activities and preparatory activities, such as face-to-face rehearsals, are forbidden.

Art. 5 (Health documentation)
- San Marino Digital Covid Certificate or equivalent EU Digital COVID Certificate;
- AntiCovid-19 Vaccination Card;
- Vaccination Certificate;
- Certificate with negative result in a rapid or molecular antigenic swab test carried out at the ISS (Social Security Institute), at San Marino pharmacies, or at accredited health facilities, within the last 48 hours for antigenic swab and 72 hours for molecular swab.
- Special medical certificate of recovery from COVID-19 which occurred in the previous 180 days
Art. 6 (Enhanced health documentation)
- San Marino Digital Covid Certificate or equivalent EU Digital COVID Certificate;
- Vaccination certificate showing that the vaccination was completed no later than the previous 180 days;
- Special medical certificate of recovery from COVID-19 which occurred in the previous 180 days
