"From Destination to Meaning: Spiritual Tourism Today"

This morning, 3 June 2026, the International Forum on Walking and Pilgrimage Tourism, "From Destination to Meaning: Spiritual Tourism Today," was held at the Teatro Titano in the Republic of San Marino. The event was promoted by the Secretariat of State for Tourism of the Republic of San Marino in collaboration with the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro.

The Forum it presents itself as a harbinger of an important opportunity for discussion on the contemporary value of walks and pilgrimages, which are increasingly recognized today as tools for personal growth, territorial valorization, sustainability and authentic promotion of territories, as well as a significant driving force for the economy and the promotion of the country.

The series of scheduled activities continued with a round table discussion featuring distinguished guests from the institutional, cultural, publishing, and associative worlds.

Speakers included Davide Rondoni, philosopher, writer, and President of the National Committee for the Celebrations of the Eighth Centenary of the Death of Saint Francis of Assisi; Miriam Giovanzana of Terre di Mezzo, who presented the book "Il Paese dei Cammini" (The Country of the Walks); Monica Valeri, Religious Tourism Project Leader for APT Emilia-Romagna; Francesco Boggi, co-founder of the Cammini d'Italia community; Raffaella Rossi, Director of the Saint Francis Way; Massimo Feruzzi, Advisor to the Secretariat of State for Tourism; and Fabrizio Leggio, Councilor for Tourism for the Municipality of Assisi.
