The official ceremony has been opened by the audience granted by their Excellencies the Captains Regent

The entry ceremony of the Historic Centre of the Municipality of San Marino into "I Borghi più belli d’Italia" as an honorary village, international guest, has been held today.

The President of the Association of "I Borghi più belli d’Italia", Fiorello Primi and his delegation introduced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Luca Beccari and the Minister of Tourism Federico Pedini Amati, was received in audience by their Excellencies the Captains Regent Filippo Tamagnini and Gaetano Troina.

The Minister Luca Beccari recalled the process that led to today's result, underlining the decisive role of the San Marino diplomat, the journalist and friend Osvaldo Bevilacqua, who, offering his precious availability, supported the candidacy of the Municipality of San Marino in the Association of “I Borghi più Belli d’Italia”.

“At the end of 2023 - Beccari recalled - I personally signed the entry request, encouraging the production of the dossier which highlighted the existence, within an ancient Republic fully inserted in the wider international community, of a peculiar city context, under the historical-artistic profile, as well as for the numerous testimonies of a strong tradition that emanates from the alleys of the Historic Centre and which attracts the curiosity of visitors of all nationalities".

The Minister Federico Pedini Amati focused on the value that recognition has in the field of tourism and attractiveness: "the Borghi (Villages) whose high historical, cultural, aesthetic and tourist level is recognized by the Association - recalled Pedini Amati in front of Their Excellencies - are today more than 360 and it is a great honour to know that among these, with the title of International Guest, there is also the Historic Centre of San Marino. The delivery of the flag to the Capitano di Castello is not just a symbolic gesture - continued Pedini Amati -, but a real act that seals a coveted goal and which certifies the value of our districts, monuments, gardens and squares, of museums and attractions, panoramas and views that only those who go to San Marino can enjoy".

The Ceremony continued with the Historical Procession of the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation which accompanied the Institutions to the Casa del Castello of the of San Marino Municipality where, in the presence of the Capitano di Castello Tomaso Rossini, the “I Borghi più belli d’Italia” flag raising ceremony was held. The flag is now weaving in Via Basilicius.

The celebrations will end at 16.30, at the Titano Theatre, with a concert by the Le Fontane di Roma Youth Orchestra (free entry).
