22nd Edition of The Christmas of Wonders: A Place from Another Time

The magic of Christmas returns to San Marino to relive a bygone era filled with warm, soft lights and Christmas carols that warm the atmosphere, bringing joy and cheer to all during the most captivating and intense celebration of the year.

Experiencing the Christmas of Wonders will feel like stepping back in time, when gifts were handmade, when the celebration was about riding a carousel with wooden horses, and when people listened eagerly to stories and fairy tales.

Both young and old can immerse themselves in a place from another time and create a Christmas to hold in their hearts, a Christmas to remember.

Illuminations
The Christmas of Wonders - A Place from Another Time will greet the public with sparkling illuminations, festive musical settings and amazing architectural lights in the most iconic places of the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town making them even more extraordinary and welcoming a unique and unmissable journey of attractions.

Santa's Alpaca Village
At Campo Bruno Reffi, the magical Santa's Alpaca Village will come to life, featuring a traditional 19th-century Merry-Go-Round with wooden horses and carriages, intricately crafted and hand-decorated by true artisans. The village also includes three charming little cabins to fully immerse visitors in a place from another time.
Santa's Cabin: until 25 December you can can meet Santa Claus who will be busy building objects and toys from times gone by; from 26 December the Cabin will be transformed into a brick workshop and wooden games will be available.
Music Box Cabin: in this Cabin visitors will step back in time with functioning music boxes full of lights; a library with Christmas fairy tales dedicated to reading will host young readers and their companions.
Alpaca Cabin: in this Cabin, children will carry out educational workshops and decorate alpaca shapes.The nearby former ice rink will also be home to three cute alpacas; it will be possible to book a truly unique experience, a walk with alpacas that will end with an inevitable souvenir photo.

The Square of Memories
Piazza della Libertà will turn into the Square of Memories and will welcome visitors with the Carriage of Wonders, an original, elegant, and majestic carriage with life-sized horses, where you can hop in, take photos, selfies, or videos to create a unique memory to share on social media and with the grand Traditional Christmas Tree, enhanced by magical lights, sounds, and projections.

Christmas Markets
As with every edition of The Christmas of Wonders, there will be Traditional Christmas Markets along Via Eugippo and Via Donna Felicissima, offering handcrafted products and fine food and wine.

Exhibition from Another Time
At the Cassa di Risparmio Gallery, visitors can enjoy the Exhibition from Another Time, showcasing the charm of objects and atmospheres from a past era, including music boxes and other nostalgic items.

Ice Park
The Ice Park will feature the fabulous ice-skating rink at Cava dei Balestrieri, and the stunning Christmas lights will leave everyone breathless.

New Year's
Great celebrations for New Year's Eve in Piazza Sant'Agata. The deejay Mr. Lori G and the voice of Marco Corona will retrace the successes from the 80s to today through the most famous hits. The square will be colored with lights and will be animated by performers and dancers.

Animations and Shows

Saturday 30 November
Starting from 16.00 the streets of the Old Town will be animated by a characteristic Marching Band which will reach Piazza della Libertà at 17.00 to officially kick off the 22nd edition of The Christmas of Wonders - A Place from Another Time

Sunday 8 December
At 16.00 a small dinosaur will accompany visitors towards a Pindaric Show
The streets of the Old Town will be animated by the music and comedy of a Brass Band with swing and jazz sounds

Saturday 14 December
Gospel Concert at 17.00 at the Basilica of Saint Marinus
The "Al Ritmo dello Spirito Gospel Choir" group will warm the hearts of adults and children by alternating traditional songs and more contemporary songs

Saturday 28 December
At 16.30 in streets of the Old Town the hot air balloon show based on the novel "Around the World in 80 Days" by Jules Verne

Monday 6 January
From 16.30 the last day of the Christmas of Wonders will be celebrated with the traveling marching band parade Funky is the way

"Great & Good Friends” Gospel
On 4 and 5 January 2025, the Titano Theater will host the “Great & Good Friends” Gospel concert, a musical performance for charity organized by the Fratellanza San Marino - America Association, featuring the Amazing Grace Gospel Choir from Rome, conducted by American Timothy Martin.

Photocontest
The contest that rewards the most beautiful photo in the main attractions of the Christmas of Wonders published on Instagram with #sanmarinounluogodaltritempi and #nataledellemeraviglie is back again this year. Take your photo in one of the attractions of the Christmas of Wonders, post it on your Instagram profile with the hashtag #sanmarinounluogodaltritempi and #nataledellemeraviglie: you could win a fabulous Atala pedal-assisted bike.

Treno Bianco Azzurro - White and Blue Train
For train enthusiasts, the AB03 electromotive of the historic Treno Bianco Azzurro inside the Montale Tunnel will be available for a special ride in the atmosphere of the 1940s.

Christmas Card
In the 2 Info Points at Porta San Francesco and Porta della Fratta, the Christmas Card will be distributed on which stamps can be collected at the Ice Park, Info Point and Santa Claus' Alpaca Village. Upon completion of the stamps, the visitor will be able to receive a Gift created by Brand Gioielli and, by presenting the postcard at the counter of the Philatelic and Numismatics Division of Poste San Marino S.p.a., have the collectible Postmark created specifically for the Christmas of Wonders.

By Train San Marino Shuttle Service
By Train San Marino is the shuttle service which allows visitors to reach the Old Town Centre by getting on a characteristic tourist train on road through a route that connects the car parks.
